Mission
We, the Bethune College Council dedicate ourselves to the Bethune community in the provision of social and academic programs and services while ensuring we maintain a strong and representative voice within York University. BCC strives to enrich the lives of the Bethune student body through social and academic events. Additionally, the council will continue to guide and assist all affiliated clubs and organizations.

● The BCC recognizes and celebrates those values exhibited by the college's namesake, Dr.
Norman Bethune, and strives to, at all times, protect the interests of the community in
fulfilling its mandate.
● The BCC recognizes and celebrates the fact that it represents and serves a rich
and diverse community and attempts to promote further harmony within this
diversity.
● The BCC recognizes and celebrates that while it may be the primary voice of the
community, that it must proactively interact with, and take suitable direction from, other
community bodies such as the Bethune College Fellows, Alumni, staff, faculty, and
students of the college.
● The BCC recognizes and celebrates a long history and relationship with the Head's
Office of Bethune College. It further recognizes the service and guidance that has been
provided to the BCC by the Head's Office. The BCC will strive at all times to further this
relationship, ensuring equal representation of all community members on the council.

BCC acknowledges our presence on the traditional territory of many Indigenous Nations. The
area known as Tkaronto has been care taken by the Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee
Confederacy, the Huron-Wendat, and the Métis Nation. It continues to be home to many
Indigenous Peoples. We acknowledge the current treaty holders, the Mississaugas of the Credit
River. This territory is subject of the “Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant”,an
agreement to peaceably share and care for the Great Lakes region.

a) to ensure marketing and other relevant communications are distributed amongst all entities of the College and any other appropriate organizations;
b) to ensure the initiation, sponsorship, encouragement and direction of programs and services that will aim to enhance the University experience for constituents and the York University community as a whole by holding each individual member accountable for their actions and use of inclusive language;
c) to ensure the safeguarding and upholding of the rights of individual members without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, mental health, sexual orientation, gender, preferred pronoun, class, age, mental or physical ability, marital status, or receipt of public assistance;
d) to ensure the organization’s regulations while upholding the council’s own governance;
e) to assist the University in organizing its resources in support of student learning;
f) to consult, represent, and liaise with students, groups, and members to seek out the most favourable initiatives;
g) to participate as a responsible member of the community outside of York University;
h) to promote democratic values and involvement so that students might have a meaningful impact upon their educational environment and further their own personal learning;
i) to maintain critical oversight of the University's obligations and responsibilities as outlined in the York University Act, 1965;
j) to create a safe space for all members of the Calumet College community and York University as a whole;
i) to include decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion as part of the CCC mission within their
initiatives.

Founders College Student Council (FCSC) is a student run organization serving the students of Founders College at York University. We’re committed to building community spirit within Founders College through the development and implementation of various events. FCSC works for the students, by planning events that will allow you to have fun as well as receive an education. We offer something for each and every one of you. We plan parties for you outgoing people and we offer intramural sports for all you athletes who love to stay fit. Founded in 1966 as the founding campus of York University, Glendon College holds a distinct place in Canadian post-secondary education. Rooted in a liberal arts tradition and defined by its bilingual mandate, Glendon has long championed intellectual exploration, public service, and cultural exchange. The Glendon College Student Union (GCSU) recognizes the transformative role of bilingualism not only as a structural element of Glendon’s identity, but as a foundation for equity, accessibility, and community building. We, the Markham Student Council, hereinafter referred to as the MSC, dedicate ourselves to
the Markham Campus community in the provision of social and academic programs and
services while ensuring we maintain a strong and representative voice within York University.
MSC strives to enrich the lives of the Markham Campus student body through social and
academic events. Additionally, the council will continue to guide and assist all affiliated clubs
and organizations.

Our mission is to act as a unified voice for the student body, advocating for their diverse needs
and aspirations while celebrating the unique contributions of every individual. By hosting
impactful events, creating volunteer and job opportunities, and supporting clubs and social
activities, we aim to represent and meet the needs of our students to the best of our ability. By
honouring the spirit of collaboration and championing student leadership, the MSC endeavours
to create lasting impacts that shape the future of our campus and its students for generations to
come.

The Markham Student Council recognizes that York University’s Markham Campus is situated
on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and
Anishinaabe Peoples — including the Ojibwe Nation, with the Chippewas of Georgina Island
being the closest recognized community. These territories are covered by the Williams Treaty
(1923), which unjustly stripped Indigenous Peoples of their harvesting rights — a wrong only
partially addressed in 2018.

We acknowledge the devastating impacts of colonialism, and the genocide committed against
Indigenous Peoples — including forced sterilization, family separation, and the horrors of
residential schools. These harms are not only historical, but ongoing, in the battle seeking the
real truth and true reconciliation.

As a student-led organization rooted in advocacy and collaboration, the MSC affirms its
responsibility to actively listen to, learn from, and support Indigenous voices — and to contribute
meaningfully to truth and reconciliation efforts within our campus and beyond.
