Mission
We, the Bethune College Council dedicate ourselves to the Bethune community in the provision of social and academic programs and services while ensuring we maintain a strong and representative voice within York University. BCC strives to enrich the lives of the Bethune student body through social and academic events. Additionally, the council will continue to guide and assist all affiliated clubs and organizations.

● The BCC recognizes and celebrates those values exhibited by the college's namesake, Dr.
Norman Bethune, and strives to, at all times, protect the interests of the community in
fulfilling its mandate.
● The BCC recognizes and celebrates the fact that it represents and serves a rich
and diverse community and attempts to promote further harmony within this
diversity.
● The BCC recognizes and celebrates that while it may be the primary voice of the
community, that it must proactively interact with, and take suitable direction from, other
community bodies such as the Bethune College Fellows, Alumni, staff, faculty, and
students of the college.
● The BCC recognizes and celebrates a long history and relationship with the Head's
Office of Bethune College. It further recognizes the service and guidance that has been
provided to the BCC by the Head's Office. The BCC will strive at all times to further this
relationship, ensuring equal representation of all community members on the council.

BCC acknowledges our presence on the traditional territory of many Indigenous Nations. The
area known as Tkaronto has been care taken by the Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee
Confederacy, the Huron-Wendat, and the Métis Nation. It continues to be home to many
Indigenous Peoples. We acknowledge the current treaty holders, the Mississaugas of the Credit
River. This territory is subject of the “Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant”,an
agreement to peaceably share and care for the Great Lakes region.

a) to ensure marketing and other relevant communications are distributed amongst all entities of the College
and any other appropriate organizations;
b) to ensure the initiation, sponsorship, encouragement and direction of programs and services that will aim
to enhance the University experience for constituents and the York University community as a whole by
holding each individual member accountable for their actions and use of inclusive language;
c) to ensure the safeguarding and upholding of the rights of individual members without discrimination and,
in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, mental
health, sexual orientation, gender, preferred pronoun, class, age, mental or physical ability, marital status,
or receipt of public assistance;
d) to ensure the organization’s regulations while upholding the council’s own governance;
e) to assist the University in organizing its resources in support of student learning;
f) to consult, represent, and liaise with students, groups, and members to seek out the most favourable
initiatives;
g) to participate as a responsible member of the community outside of York University;
h) to promote democratic values and involvement so that students might have a meaningful impact upon
their educational environment and further their own personal learning;
i) to maintain critical oversight of the University's obligations and responsibilities as outlined in the York
University Act, 1965;
j) to create a safe space for all members of the Calumet College community and York University as a
whole;
i) to include decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion as part of the CCC mission within their
initiatives.

Founders College Student Council (FCSC) is a student run organization serving the students of Founders College at York University. We’re committed to building community spirit within Founders College through the development and implementation of various events. FCSC works for the students, by planning events that will allow you to have fun as well as receive an education. We offer something for each and every one of you. We plan parties for you outgoing people and we offer intramural sports for all you athletes who love to stay fit. The vision of the GCSU is as follows:

-Foster and support activities and events, both of the GCSU and of clubs, which will enhance the university experience of its members and contribute to the educational and social experience of the College;

-To safeguard the rights of the individual students regardless of age, sex, gender expression, race, nationality, ancestry, citizenship, marital status, illness or results from medical tests, sexual orientation or preference, place of residence, school of thought, beliefs, religious affiliations or activities, criminal record, any physical handicap or invalidity, or participation or non-participation within the student union, and to further promote and encourage social consciousness;

-Effectively represent the student body and its interests by serving as an advocate and a liaison both within the Glendon College and York University communities and with individuals and organizations beyond them;

-Encourage student participation and engagement within the Glendon College community;

-Encourage and advocate for academic and intellectual pursuits;

-Work to enhance the bilingual character of Glendon College by providing services and opportunities to students in both French and English.
