Welcome to DnD & RPG @ York!

DnD & RPG @ York is a club dedicated to helping both longtime and new players find and host tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs). We are the University’s premier place to find/host games, discuss TTRPGs in any form, or just find new friends who enjoy the hobby.

We aim to be a super inclusive space for all students, no matter how you identify, and a home for all TTRPG players to find their passion.

If DnD specifically isn't your thing, or you are looking to expand your TTRPG horizons, the club is also host to many GMs who run other TTRPGs, such as Cyberpunk RED, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, and probably whatever system you can think of. (And who knows, if you have wanted to run a system but can’t find a game, maybe you can be the one to GM it for others!)

DnD, or Dungeons and Dragons, is a collaborative storytelling game primarily focused on fantasy settings. It is a TableTop Role-Playing Game (TTRPG), which is the broader category used for many other game systems that are similarly structured.

Typically, DnD is structured with one person “leading” the narrative, aka the Game Master, or GM. GMs help to build and fill a world that the other players will then immerse themselves in and work together to advance a plot that changes based on their actions.

DnD is popular primarily because they allow a much greater degree of reactivity than any pre-written story. However, it is also a popular form of stress relief, a way to make or maintain friendships, and a myriad of other reasons you could learn by joining the club.

DnD is not the only TTRPG, of course, and there are many others that might better fit your preferred setting or playstyle. All TTRPG systems will have different rules, styles, themes, and gameplay, but all generally follow the same pattern.

In addition to serving as a table-finding server and general hobbyist site, DnD & RPG @ York also runs several events throughout the year. Some of our key events are;

• Halloween One-Shots: single-session stories with a spooky style that are perfect for beginners or people without time for a full campaign. Usually held in late October.

• Winter One-Shots: same as above but often holiday-themed and held in January.

• Mini Painting: A short mini painting lesson/workshop where the mini and paints are provided by the club. Ideal for aspiring players, especially those with little art experience.

• Other workshops throughout the year, varying in scope and theme, such as character building, world building, club collabs, and more.
