Meet Our Team
The LEEA team is composed of passionate student leaders dedicated to positively impacting campus. Our team members – Jannat Yaqobi, Sakina Hassanali, and Nebiyou Timotewos – bring unique perspectives and experiences that contribute to our collective goal: to uplift and train York’s student leaders.
- Jannat Yaqobi: As a fourth-year criminology student and one of your Leadership Equity and Education Ambassadors, I am passionate about building meaningful connections within the community. As a co-host of Student Conversations: Stories and Lessons, I engage in thoughtful discussions aimed at inspiring and empowering student leaders! My love for reading, writing, and traveling keeps me constantly seeking new ways to grow, both personally and as a leader.
- Sakina Hassanali: I am thrilled to be a co-host of SCLD’s first podcast, Student Conversations: Stories & Lessons. I am a third-year student majoring in Global Politics and minoring in Human Rights (because why not try to save the world right?!). If you see me strolling around campus, swing by for a chat - I'm always up for one!
- Nebiyou Timotewos: I am truly honoured to represent the amazing, diverse, and inspiring student body on campus. As a student pursuing a major, minor, and certificate, I understand the stresses of student life. However, I believe in the importance of finding balance within our community. I am excited for this year as we work together to create a socially purposeful campus.
Our Goals
At the core of our mission is a commitment to train and educate student leaders across campus. We aim to help you develop the leadership skills essential for creating inclusive, equitable, and impactful spaces within your student organizations and communities. Whether you are an executive member of a student org, part of a college council, or simply looking to enhance your leadership abilities, our team is here to support you.
Our Services
Throughout the academic year, we will be offering a series of monthly workshops designed to address the needs of student organizations, college council executives, and leaders across campus.
