About Us

HEART (Health Equity Advocacy Response Team) at York University is committed to promoting health equity and ensuring access to essential medical, dental, and pharmaceutical care for all. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we empower students to address healthcare disparities affecting rural, Indigenous, and immigrant communities and drive sustainable change on campus and beyond.

Be part of a passionate team advocating for health equity and addressing healthcare disparities. Gain hands-on experience in planning events, advocacy campaigns, and research projects. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, policymakers, and community leaders through engaging speaker panels and workshops. Contribute to initiatives focused on equitable access to medical, dental, and pharmaceutical care. Join efforts to create a buddy system supporting new immigrant and international students in accessing health resources at YorkU. Partner with other YorkU clubs, faculties, and external organizations to co-host events and campaigns. Participate in fundraising efforts to support healthcare services for underserved rural, Indigenous, and immigrant communities. Build leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills while making a meaningful impact. Goals Launch impactful Social Media Advocacy campaigns and Campus Campaigns to raise awareness about barriers to healthcare access and solutions for equity. Host health workshops and speaker panels featuring professionals from medical, dental, pharmaceutical, and policy fields to inspire and educate. Advocate for equitable access to comprehensive care, focusing on medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. Develop a buddy system to support new immigrant and international students in navigating health resources and building connections. Collaborate with YorkU clubs, faculties (e.g., health sciences, social work), and organizations to co-host impactful events, campaigns, and research projects. Raise funds for healthcare organizations supporting rural, Indigenous, and immigrant populations, ensuring better access to essential services. Facilitate student-led research and advocacy projects addressing healthcare disparities and barriers to care. Foster a supportive community where members can develop leadership, advocacy, and communication skills while making a difference.
