Artists’ Legal Advice Services (ALAS) is a legal clinic for creators operated by law students from both Osgoode and U of T. During one-on-one meetings, ALAS’ volunteer entertainment and intellectual property lawyers provide summary legal advice to clients in the creative industries. Student volunteers help administer the clinic and assist with client management. Students also shadow ALAS’ volunteer lawyers during client meetings and attend debrief sessions at the end of their clinic shift. ALAS also maintains a public-access legal database and aims to bring industry-relevant legal education events to Osgoode in the future. The clinic currently operates exclusively online.

Mission
The Association of Graduate Studies in the Biological Sciences (AGSBS) represents all biology graduate students (MSc and PhD) at York University in Toronto, Ontario. Our members come from many different fields of biology, including Cell and Molecular Biology, Animal and Plant Physiology, and Ecology and Evolution. We host events throughout the year for our members and host an annual symposium where we showcase the biology graduate student research happening at York University!

AGSBS hosts and organizes the annual Biology Symposium at York University. The Symposium is our largest event which is open to the community and has been historically sponsored by faculty members, industry leaders, and the York administration. The annual program usually includes invited speakers from other universities as keynote speakers, talks from graduate students, a poster session highlighting research from graduate and undergraduate thesis students, a semi-formal dinner, workshop(s), and more.

Our Wall of Fame records achievements of our members during their time as graduate students and provides recognition for internal/external purposes.

Every year AGSBS selects and awards the best thesis at the undergraduate level (BIOL 4000 8.0) in collaboration with the Undergraduate Program at the Department of Biology.

The association hosts a number free and subsidized social events on and away from campus throughout the year for its members. Such activities include internal festive gatherings, hosting seminars, and off campus activities.

We held so many events last year from space movie nights to painting and crafting night and collaboration with the Alan I Carswell Observatory for an observatory tour - both entertaining and educational events. This club is open to all students of any major or faculty. Moroever, joining this club allows students to meet and connect with other astronomy enthusiasts, which can lead to collaborations, friendships, and the sharing of knowledge and experiences. ACYU engages in public outreach and education, providing members with opportunities to participate in or help organize educational events for all York students/staff/faculty or the general public.

a) to ensure marketing and other relevant communications are distributed amongst all entities of the College and any other appropriate organizations;

YUCSSA is registered student club at York University. Since 2001, it joined the Ontario Chinese Student and Scholars Association Union (OCSSAU), which the only legally recognized and registered Chinese student organization by the consulate-general of People’s Republic of China in Toronto.

The majority of the members are the students and scholars studying at York University and still holding the Chinese nationality. However, Chinese holding Canadian or other nationalities, Chinese born in Canada or other countries and non-Chinese individuals are also welcomed.

The purpose of this club is for undergraduate engineering students to annually design and build a concrete canoe in order to compete in the Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition (CNCCC). Participation in the club and in CNCCC allows students to use their classroom knowledge and apply it in a practical way. The club provides a space for engineering students of all disciplines to work together, sharing their skills and collaborating in a fun environment.

The York University Dragon Boat Club enables York U students to participate in Dragon Boat racing as a competitive sport while providing training for paddlers. The team participates in regattas during the summer against other universities, Canadian and international teams.
