About Us

The mission of the Bangladeshi Students' Association at York (BSAY) is to celebrate and promote the rich heritage, culture, and history of Bangladesh within the vibrant and diverse community at York University. Through various events, activities, and cultural showcases, BSAY fosters a sense of pride and belonging among its members while also educating the wider university population about Bengali traditions. The club also plays an important role in helping new students transition into university life by offering a supportive community where they can build connections and become acquainted with the York campus. BSAY strives to create a space where all members, regardless of background, can engage in cultural exchange, enrich the multicultural fabric of the university, and strengthen bonds within the community.

Members Benefits

1. Cultural and Social Engagement: Members have the opportunity to participate in exclusive events hosted by the club that are designed for general members. These events provide a chance to socialize, have fun, and even win prizes, fostering a tight-knit community. Additionally, the club organizes larger events that celebrate Bengali culture, and general members benefit from special discounts on tickets to these major events. 2. Voting Rights: Members have the right to vote in the club’s elections, giving them a voice in shaping the club’s leadership and direction. 3. Leadership Opportunities: Full-time students have the chance to run for Executive Board positions, such as Co-President, Vice Presidents, or other roles, allowing them to gain hands-on leadership experience. This helps in building skills in event planning, financial management, corporate relations, and team collaboration. 4. Networking: Membership offers the chance to network with other York University students, alumni, and faculty, as well as connect with Bangladeshi Student Associations from other universities. These connections can be valuable for both personal and professional growth. 5. General Involvement: All members, including those who may not hold voting rights, such as part-time or non-student affiliates, can still enjoy full participation in the club’s events and activities. This inclusive environment ensures that everyone can engage with the cultural and social initiatives. These are just a few of the many benefits members enjoy, with even more opportunities and perks awaiting those who join and get involved in the club's activities.
